Ananda Marga Elementary Philosophy

This was the first published of the more than 250 books of Shrii Shrii Anandamurti and continues to hold its place as an introduction to his entire philosophy. Its specialty is the use of formal, though simple, logic to make an utterly convincing case for the existence of Supreme Consciousness and the need for spiritual practice. Penetrating answers to perennial questions: What is God? Who am I? What is my relation to the universe? How should human beings live in this world?

Ananda Marga Spiritual and Social Practices

This book not only deals with spiritual practices and social conduct, but also provides the cosmological philosophy behind spiritual practices, and explains the purpose of human life in progressing from microcosmic imperfection to Macrocosmic perfection.

Ananda Sutram

The sutra form has been valued over the centuries as a powerful tool for communicating a deep philosophy in a condensed, memorable way. In the best traditions of sutra literature, the eighty-five sutras of this book serve, with breathtaking conciseness, as a framework for the entire Ananda Marga ideology. In this book the author has in a few vivid strokes presented humanity with original concepts of metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and macrohistory.

Ananda Vacanamrtam

The Ánanda Vacanámrtam (“Blissful Discourses”) series assembles all the known General Darshan discourses given by Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrti. General Darshan (GD) discourses were those given to Ananda Marga members, often as a part of the daily routine, in whatever locality Ánandamúrtijii happened to be staying at the time. Normally briefer and lighter in tone (though no less profound in their fundamental meanings) than the discourses given on the formal occasions of DMC, these talks were sometimes delivered in a very intimate way to relatively small groups of margis.

The Ánanda Vacanámrtam series was begun in 1978 with the GD discourses given by the author at that time. It then kept pace with the GD discourses that the author gave over the subsequent six years. Starting with Part 23, the series has included GD speeches given before 1978. Some of the topics: “From Animality to Divinity”, “Energy and Cognition”, “Liberation from Visnumáyá”, “Superstitions about Death”, “Tantra Is Sádhaná, Sádhaná Is Tantra”, “Mantra and Incantation”, “The Place of Women in the Spiritual World”, “The Glory of Human Dharma”, “Pinnacled Existence”, “Stages of Samádhi”.

Ananda Vanii Samgraha

The author gave special messages on the occasions of the New Year and his birthday. This book is a collection of those inspirational messages.

Birds & Animals

Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar teaches us in this book, to regard other species as “neighbors on earth,” due to the same dignity and respect we give our fellow human beings. This book beautifully reflects the author’s philosophy of Neohumanism. Which holds that all-encompassing, perfect love is the essence of spiritual realization and the highest stage to which humans can aspire. In this book, the author shows his passionate love and compassion for all forms of life and inspires us to likewise protect birds and animals while honoring their rights and their presence on earth.

Caryacarya Parts 1-3

Caryacarya is the samaja shastra (social treatise) of Ananda Marga. These three volumes set out both the organizational and the cultural basis of the Ananda Marga movement. In Part 1 the author not only gives Ananda Marga its governing boards and committees but also provides guidelines for social functions that range from welcoming the tiny infant to celebrating the spring to remembering the dead. Part 2 gives many guidelines for conduct in a progressive society – i.e., a society of individuals moving towards the Supreme. Part 3 contains all the dos and don’ts related to physical health that must be followed for progress in mental and spiritual sadhana. The author explains yogic asanas (postures) and other health practices. He reminds the reader that in addition to the written instructions, a competent teacher is necessary for the practice of asanas.

Discourses on Krsna and The Giita

Krsna, the Mahabharata, the Bhagavad Giita, and many shlokas (couplets) from the Giita figured prominently in the discourses of Shrii Shrii Anandamurti throughout a lifetime of spiritual teaching. A Guide to Human Conduct

Herein the author explains Yama and Niyama, traditionally accepted cardinal principles of morality, in a modern way, and at the same time places those principles on a clear scientific basis. The reader will learn that ancient teachings of self-control and selfless conduct stem in fact from the deepest understandings of human psychology, and are keys to the release of the highest human potentials.

Human Society Part-1

In his two-part Human Society series, the author has chosen to depart from chronological order, analyzing modern society in the first part of the series, and then delving into human history, and human macrohistory, in the second part.

In human society part-1, the author demonstrates at the outset that society must be built on a foundation of morality and must move progressively forward in order to establish itself in universal humanism. Then from the vantage point of that universal humanism, the author examines different issues of education, social justice, and the judicial system; and probes the impacts that practitioners of various professions may have, for better or for worse, on the social body as a whole, depending on the expansiveness of their minds. Human Society Part 1, in effect, provides human beings the vision needed to build a society in the true sense of the word.

Human Society Part 2

Here the author introduces his theory of history and social change. Economist Ravi Batra has based his best-selling economics books on the Law of the Social Cycle as explained in this book and has said, “As I studied Sarkar’s Human Society, I was amazed by the scope and depth of his vision. Here finally was an answer to the puzzle of social evolution …” Historians and futurists are calling this a landmark work in understanding the process of social change

Idea and Ideology

Like no other book, but rather like the spiritual practice itself, Idea and Ideology methodically, in a careful sequence, expands the reader’s horizons and mind. It concludes by using the spiritual vantage that has been gained, to focus on the social problems of the earth.

Prabhata Samgiita Selected Songs Part I

On September 14, 1982, Deoghar, Baba (Shrii Shrii Anandamurti)gave a song that was only the beginning of a seemingly endless flow of songs. A little later Baba named the song “Prabhat Samgiita”. Though most of the 5018 Prabhat Samgiita are in the Bengali language, the songs ‘ideative character, rhythms, and tunes are structures that channelize the devotional feeling towards the Supreme. For a long time, the Renaissance Writers’ and Artists’ Association of Ananda Marga (RAWA) has been producing Prabha’ta Samgiita audio albums containing normally eight – ten songs each, and for an equally long time requests have been pouring in from listeners of those audio albums to publish a volume containing the English translations, along with romanized lyrics, or all the songs. The present book is in response to those requests, and fulfills a long-standing need of many listeners throughout the globe. Thirty-two albums appear herein, in the order of their release.

Prabhata Samgiita

Samgiita means the combination of vocal music, instrumental music, and dance. Prabhat was the given name of the composer of these songs, so the school of music that these songs embody has been named Prabhata Samgiita. This volume presents the lyrics of the first 200 songs with their English translations.

Prout in a Nutshell

Shri Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar

In 1959 the author first propounded the socio-economic theory Prout, an acronym for Progressive Utilization Theory. This series assembles in 21 volumes all the author’s discourses related to Prout.

Shabda Cayanika

Shri Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar

Ostensibly, Shabda Cayanika is a series devoted to the linguistics and philology of the Bengali language, but in reality, it is much more than that. The author uses the platform of the word as a point of departure to take the reader on a journey through all the varied landscapes of human knowledge – history, geography, medicine, science, art, religion, philosophy, etc. – and in the process adds the indelible stamp of his own unique wisdom, enriching our experience with new ideas and enabling us to see our human heritage in a way we have never been able to before.

A Commentary on Ananda Sutrum

Avadhutika Ananda Mitra Acarya

From the perfect quietness of Consciousness to the explosive death of stars, from sensitive plants to contemplative ecstasies, Ananda Sutram creates perhaps the fullest synthesis of any book produced by our human civilization. It is a work based not on guesses and rational speculation, but on direct intuitive experience. Now this difficult text has been greatly elucidated in the present Commentary, bringing it to a wider audience of inquisitive and searching minds.

Strange Experiences

Strange Experiences is at once a collection of entertaining stories, an enigmatic treatise on the paranormal, and a rare window into the early life of the author.

Subhasita Samgraha

To The Patriots

This discourse examines the benefits and limitations of patriotism.

Varna Vijinana

Shri Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar

Varna Vijinana can be translated into English as “The Science of Letters”. However, it can just as easily be rendered as “The Science of Language”, for in it the author binds the myriad and often mystifying threads of language into a single tapestry and demonstrates with remarkable clarity how they obey the laws of pure science. In a lucid and entertaining style, laced with anecdotes and stories, he uncovers the fundamental principles which govern linguistic expression and blends this with a historical perspective that throws new light on the origins of human language. Many of the ideas that inform these discourses are new to the study of linguistics and are sure to provide ample material for future research.

Yoga for Health

by Avadhutika Ananda Mitra Acarya

The ancient science of yoga has revealed the truth that within the harmony of body and mind lies the secret of health. The physical discipline of asanas trains the practitioners to assume the most difficult positions with a minimum of effort, keeping relaxed whether upright, sitting, lying down, or twisting. Through this physical training, the yoga student gradually learns to keep mind and body in poised equilibrium in all situations, to maintain perfect calm in any environment. Ananda Marga yoga is the culmination of thousands of years of individual research and practical experience. This ancient and time-tested system of preventive medicine offers to the reader the most practical, painless, and inexpensive technique for all-round health, peaceful emotions, relief from stress and tiredness, delay of the aging process, more limber and flexible joints, and an increase of the body’s energy and vitality. Yoga for Health is the key to unlock the door to the hidden potentials within your own body and mind.

Yogic Treatments & Natural Remedies

by Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar

The object of the art of healing is to cure a patient, both physically and mentally. So the question is not the advocacy of any particular school of medical science, but rather the welfare of the patient. Diseases can be cured through natural methods of yogic exercise, water, diet, herbal medicines, sunlight, and air.

Namámi Krsna Sundaram

by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

The exercise of comparing one philosophy to another is a difficult intellectual task, but there are many precedents for it. This book attempts something perhaps unprecedented — comparing philosophy to a personality. Here the author has compared not just one philosophy, but at least ten, to the life and personality of Lord Krsna. The author sets out the two distinct facets of Lord Krsna’s personality: Vraja Krsna, the lord of devotion, and Párthasárathi Krsna, the lord of karma yoga, ceaselessly engaged in the battle against injustice.

The Awakening of Women

By: Shrii Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar

Throughout his life, the author was deeply concerned about the conditions of women in society. He supported the emancipation of women from the bonds of dogma and ignorance. As the founder and president of Ananda Marga, he laid the foundations of a society that accords men and women with equal dignity and responsibility. This book is a compilation of all the author’s discourses and comments about the social and spiritual roles of women.
